Looking in Mirror
Hasan HadithMusnad Ahmad 22595

اللَّهُمَّ أَحْسَنْتَ خَلْقِي فَأَحْسِنْ خُلُقِي

O Allah, You have made my form beautiful, so make my character beautiful.

Allahumma ahsanta khalqi fa ahsin khuluqi

When to Read

This dua is recommended to be recited when looking in the mirror, particularly when grooming oneself or simply observing one's reflection. It serves as a powerful reminder that outward beauty is transient and that true, lasting beauty lies in the refinement of one's character and a constant remembrance of Allah.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely, with the intention of seeking Allah's help in beautifying not just the outward form, but more importantly, the inner self. Focus on the meaning as you look at your reflection, acknowledging Allah's creation of your physical appearance while seeking His assistance to cultivate good manners and a pure heart. It can be recited once or repeated a few times with contemplation.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a profound understanding of true beauty. By asking Allah to beautify our character, we are prioritizing spiritual and moral excellence over superficial appearance. This reflects the Prophetic ﷺ emphasis on inner beauty and good conduct, which are qualities that please Allah and have lasting value in this life and the next. It helps keep our focus on the Akhirah, remembering that this worldly life and its adornments are temporary.
