اللَّهُمَّ أَحْسَنْتَ خَلْقِي فَحَسِّنْ خُلُقِي
O Allah, You have made my form beautiful, so make my character beautiful.
Allahumma ahsanta khalqi fa hassin khuluqi
When to Read
This dua is recommended to be recited when looking in the mirror. It's a moment to reflect not just on our physical appearance, which is a blessing from Allah, but more importantly, on our inner selves – our character and conduct. We often check our outward appearance in the mirror, but this is an opportunity to also check and improve our inward state, asking Allah to perfect what He has beautifully created.
How to Read
Recite this dua sincerely, with the intention of seeking Allah's help in refining your inner character just as you appreciate the outward form Allah has given you. It’s best said quietly to yourself as you catch your reflection, reflecting on both physical and spiritual well-being.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua embodies a profound spiritual principle: acknowledging that true beauty and perfection come from Allah. By asking Allah to perfect our character, we are seeking His help to embody the best of manners, kindness, patience, and all other praiseworthy traits. It cultivates humility by reminding us that our physical form is a gift, and gratitude by prompting us to thank Allah for it. It shifts our focus from vanity to spiritual growth, recognizing that our actions and character are what truly matter in the sight of Allah.
