โœฆ

O Allah, grant me wisdom and increase my knowledge and make me among the righteous.

Allahumma ati-ni hikmatan wa zidni 'ilman waj'alni minas-salihin

When to Read

This supplication can be made at any time, but is particularly relevant when one is reflecting on themselves, seeking self-improvement, or feeling uncertain about their path. Recite it when you look at yourself in the mirror, praying that your inner reflection matches the outward actions that please Allah, and that He grants you the insight to see your flaws and the strength to correct them.

How to Read

Recite this sincere dua with a focused heart, envisioning yourself embodying wisdom, knowledge, and righteousness. It is best to raise your hands in supplication as you make this dua, embodying humility and hope in Allah's mercy. While looking at your reflection, reflect on how these qualities can be cultivated and manifested in your daily life, seeking Allah's assistance every step of the way.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly asks Allah for three crucial elements for a fulfilling life: wisdom (hikmah), which is understanding and applying knowledge correctly; increased knowledge ('ilm), covering both religious and beneficial worldly knowledge; and righteousness (salih), which is living a life that is pleasing to Allah and beneficial to His creation. By seeking these, a person aims to have an inner 'mirror' that shows them the truth of their character and actions, guiding them towards what is best, much like a true mirror reflects one's outward appearance accurately.
