Dua for Strength When Facing Social Rejection

Loneliness & Isolation
Sahih HadithMusnad Ahmad 3949

O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is enacted, and Your decision concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to anyone among Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or kept exclusively to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that You possess, to make the Quran the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the remover of my anxieties.

Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibn 'abdika, ibn amatika, nasiyatii biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitabika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

When to Read

Recite this dua when you feel the sting of being excluded, misunderstood, or rejected by people. It's particularly effective when social isolation leads to deep sadness and worry, as the Prophet ﷺ taught us this supplication to seek relief from such burdens.

How to Read

When you feel the weight of rejection, find a quiet place. Raise your hands, acknowledging your complete reliance on Allah. Utter these words with sincerity, visualizing Allah's immense power and wisdom. Understand that this is a plea for inner peace and solace, turning to the Quran as the ultimate source of comfort. Repeat it regularly when needed.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself, directly addresses the pain of worry and sadness (حُزْنِي وَهَمِّي - huzni wa hammi). By seeking Allah to make the Quran the cure for these ailments, we are reminded that true solace and belonging are found in our connection with Allah and His divine word. It shifts our focus from the transient approval of people to the eternal comfort of the Divine.

Al-Hasan ibn Ali narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught him these words to say in his supplication: 'Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibn 'abdika, ibn amatika, nasiyatii biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitabika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.' (O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is enacted, and Your decision concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed to anyone among Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or kept exclusively to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that You possess, to make the Quran the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the remover of my anxieties.)
