โœฆ

O Ever-Living, O Sustainer by Your mercy I seek help. Rectify for me all of my affairs and do not entrust me to myself even for the span of an eye blink.

Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum bi rahmatika astagheeth, aslih li sha'ni kullahu wa la takilni ila nafsi tarfata 'ayn.

When to Read

Recite this dua when you feel overwhelmed by the demands of caregiving, when the weight of responsibility feels heavy, or when a wave of loneliness washes over you. It's a powerful supplication to turn to at any moment you need to feel connected to Allah and reminded of His constant support and presence, especially when the physical presence of others feels distant.

How to Read

Make this dua with sincerity and conviction, visualizing Allah's mercy surrounding you. Raise your hands in supplication if possible, as this is a Sunnah. Believe that Allah hears your plea and is capable of easing your burden and providing you with strength and a renewed sense of purpose. Repeat it often, especially during quiet moments throughout the day, perhaps after your obligatory prayers or when you find yourself alone with your thoughts.

Virtues & Benefits

This profound dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ to his own daughter Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), is a comprehensive plea for divine assistance in all aspects of life. By asking for Allah's help ('astagheeth') with His mercy ('bi rahmatika'), we acknowledge our dependence on Him. The request to 'rectify all of my affairs' ('aslih li sha'ni kullahu') covers spiritual, emotional, and practical challenges, including the immense task of caregiving. Crucially, the plea 'do not entrust me to myself even for the span of an eye blink' ('wa la takilni ila nafsi tarfata 'ayn') recognizes our inherent weakness and the absolute necessity of Allah's guidance and protection, which is particularly vital when navigating the isolating and demanding path of caregiving.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Anas: The daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to the Prophet (peace be upon him): 'O Messenger of Allah, I have something I wish to ask you.' He said: 'What is it?' She said: 'The servant of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) has left me and is gone.' She said: 'And I have seen of the world what I have seen. So I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is it that I can say?' He said: 'Say: O Ever-Living, O Sustainer by Your mercy I seek help. Rectify for me all of my affairs and do not entrust me to myself even for the span of an eye blink.' Then he said to her: 'And with Allah is your need, morning and evening.'
