Dua for Solace and Companionship: Navigating Single Parenthood's Isolation

Loneliness & Isolation
Hasan HadithMusnad Ahmad 3541

O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female-servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective, and Your judgment over me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen which You possess, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a departure for my sorrow and a remover of my worries.

Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibn 'abdika, ibn amatika, nasiyatii biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka. As'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw anzaltahu fi kitabika, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm il-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana Rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

Raising your hands (as is customary when making dua) can enhance the feeling of supplication.

This profound dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, directly addresses emotional distress. Source & Authentication

Yahya related to me from Malik, from Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Attiya, from Humaid ibn Abd ar-Rahman, from an-Nawwas ibn Sam'an al-Kilabi, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The parable of the one who memorizes the Qur'an is that of the owner of the tethered camel. He keeps it in check, and he keeps it; and the parable of the one who has memorized the Qur'an and he forgets it, is that of the owner of the tethered camel who let it go." Yahya related to me from Malik, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from Abu Salih as-Sammân, from Abu Hurayra, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to say, "O Allah, set right for me my religion which is the safeguard of my affairs, and set right for me my worldly life in which is my sustenance, and set right for me my hereafter in which is my return. Make life a means of increase for me in every good, and make death a rest for me from every evil." Yahya related to me from Malik, from Abu az-Zubayr al-Makhzumi, from abu Tufayl Amir ibn Wathila, from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, that he said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'No one has ever suffered any anxiety or grief and said (as an invocation), O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female-servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective, and Your judgment over me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen which You possess, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, and a departure for my sorrow and a remover of my worries,' except that Allah will take away his sorrow and grief and give him joy in their stead.'" (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 3504 - he said this is a ghareeb hadith. Sunan Ibn Majah 3851)
