O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective, and Your judgment on me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or taught to anyone of Your creation, or revealed in Your Book, or that You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my grief, and the remover of my worries.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'No person suffered any anxiety or grief, and then said: O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective, and Your judgment on me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or taught to anyone of Your creation, or revealed in Your Book, or that You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my grief, and the remover of my worries; but Allah would take away his anxiety and grief and give him in their stead relief.' A person asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, should we not learn these words?' The Prophet ﷺ replied: 'Yes, it is incumbent upon everyone who hears them to learn them.' (Musnad Ahmad 1747 - Hasan)
