O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your judgment upon me is inevitable. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen which You possess, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my grief, and the reliever of my worries.
Allahumma inni 'abdak, ibn 'abdik, ibn amatik, nasiyati biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuk, 'adlun fiyya qada'uk, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa lak, sammayta bihi nafsak, aw anzaltahu fi kitabi, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqik, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm al-ghaybi 'indak, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

It's particularly beneficial during times of quiet reflection, after prayers, or whenever you feel a pang of isolation and long for connection, both with people and with Allah.
How to Read
This dua is deeply personal and heartfelt. Begin by remembering Allah's greatness and Your reliance on Him. Raise your hands, as is customary when making dua. Focus on the meaning of the words, allowing them to resonate with your feelings of longing for companionship and peace. Believe that Allah hears you and has the power to grant your request. It is recommended to recite this after your obligatory prayers or at any time you feel the need for solace.
Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive dua seeks Allah's help in dispelling sadness and worry by making the Qur'an the source of comfort and guidance. While not directly asking for a spouse or specific companion, it asks for a 'springtime of the heart' and 'light of the chest,' which can bring inner peace and contentment, alleviating the fear of being alone. By turning to the Qur'an, we connect with the ultimate companion – Allah Himself – and find solace in His words. This dua was taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to a man who was struggling with grief, demonstrating its power to ease distress and bring about a profound sense of well-being.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ saw Abu Bakr and Umar in a state of distress and asked them what was troubling them. They replied, 'O Messenger of Allah, we have never experienced anything like this before.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'You will not experience anything like it, and when you meet the enemy, say: > **Arabic:** اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي عَبْدُكَ، ابْنُ عَبْدِكَ، ابْنُ أَمَتِكَ، نَاصِيَتِي بِيَدِكَ، مَاضٍ فِيَّ حُكْمُكَ، عَدْلٌ فِيَّ قَضَاؤُكَ، أَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ هُوَ لَكَ، سَمَّيْتَ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ، أَوْ أَنْزَلْتَهُ فِي كِتَابِكَ، أَوْ عَلَّمْتَهُ أَحَدًا مِنْ خَلْقِكَ، أَوْ اسْتَأْثَرْتَ بِهِ فِي عِلْمِ الْغَيْبِ عِنْدَكَ، أَنْ تَجْعَلَ الْقُرْآنَ رَبِيعَ قَلْبِي، وَنُورَ صَدْرِي، وَجِلَاءَ حُزْنِي، وَذَهَابَ هَمِّي. > **Translation:** 'O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant.
