Dua for Leaving the Masjid to Enter the Market

Leaving Masjid
Sahih HadithSunan Abi Dawud 5095

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ

In the name of Allah, I rely on Allah. There is no might nor power except with Allah.

Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah

When to Read

This beautiful dua is recited as you leave the masjid with the intention of heading to a public place, like the market. It's a moment of transition, moving from the sacred space of worship to the often chaotic world of commerce and daily interactions.

How to Read

Recite this with sincerity, acknowledging Allah's name and power as you step out. It's a declaration of your trust in Him, no matter where your path takes you. Imagine the words on your tongue as you take your first steps out of the masjid gate, carrying that spiritual connection with you.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that reciting this dua upon leaving one's home (and by extension, upon leaving a place of worship to engage with the world) brings immense blessings. It is reported that when one says this, it is said to them: 'You are guided, defended, and protected. The devil will stay away from you.'

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, 'When a person leaves his house saying, 'Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah', it is said to him, 'You have been sufficed (from all evil) and protected.' And the devil stays away from him.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 5095, graded Sahih)
