It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Indeed, Allah has portions of His bounty, and He gives to whomever He wills of His servants. And indeed, from the most excellent of those who ask for His bounty is a man who asks Allah for Paradise and seeks refuge in Him from the Fire. And indeed, the supplication of a servant is more excellent than his deed. And indeed, the most excellent of what is asked is the bounty of Allah, and the most excellent of what is sought is the bounty of Allah.' Then he said: 'O Allah, indeed I ask of Your bounty.' And he said it three times. (Sahih Muslim 1301)
