Leaving Masjid
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 509

In the name of Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty. O Allah, protect me from the accursed Satan.

Bismillah, was-salatu was-salamu 'ala Rasulillah. Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik. Allahumma 'ismini minash-shaytanir-rajim.

When to Read

This dua is recited when leaving the Masjid. It's a beautiful way to conclude your time in Allah's house, asking for His continued blessings and protection as you re-enter the world.

How to Read

It is recommended to recite this dua while exiting the Masjid. Some narrations mention turning your right foot out first when leaving a mosque, similar to entering with the right foot. Focus on the meaning and sincerity.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a beautiful request for divine favor and protection. Asking for 'fadl' (bounty) acknowledges that all good comes from Allah. Seeking protection from Satan is crucial as we leave the spiritual haven of the Masjid and face daily temptations. It’s a reminder that Allah's blessings and guidance are needed in every aspect of our lives, inside and outside the mosque.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abu Usayd Malik bin Rabia (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "When one of you enters the Masjid, he should say: 'O Allah, open to me the doors of Your mercy.' And when he leaves, he should say: 'O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty.'" (Sunan Abi Dawud 509). The addition 'and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah' and 'O Allah, protect me from the accursed Satan' is found in other related narrations, emphasizing the comprehensive nature of seeking refuge and blessings.
