اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ.
O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty.
Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik.
When to Read
This dua is recited when leaving the Masjid, just as you are about to step out of the mosque and head back to your home or your next destination. It's a beautiful moment to transition from the spiritual environment of the mosque back into the worldly affairs, seeking Allah's continued grace and provision.
How to Read
Recite this supplication sincerely after completing your prayer or visit to the Masjid, as you prepare to exit. It's Sunnah to exit with the left foot after entering with the right, and similarly, to exit the Masjid with the left foot. As you make your way out, utter this dua with a hopeful heart, reflecting on Allah's boundless generosity.
Virtues & Benefits
This simple yet profound dua carries immense weight. By asking Allah for His bounty as we leave His house, we are essentially seeking His continued blessing and provision throughout our day and in our homes. It acknowledges that all good things come from Him and reminds us to remain dependent on Him even after we have fulfilled our obligation of visiting the Masjid. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua, highlighting its importance in seeking Allah's continued favor and provision in our lives.
Source & Authentication
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'When one of you enters his house, let him say: O Allah, I ask You for a blessing therein, and let him who enters his house without saying the Name of Allah, the provision will be cut off from him. And when one of you leaves his house, let him say: O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty. He who leaves his house without saying this, will be seized by the (one who is) meanest and most wretched.' (Translated for context, this hadith is about entering and leaving the house. The specific dua for leaving the Masjid is often interpreted and used in conjunction with leaving general places of gathering, seeking Allah's bounty as one departs. The specific dua for leaving the Masjid as found in other narrations is: "Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik." (Sahih Muslim 713). The principle of seeking Allah's bounty remains consistent.)
