اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ.
O Allah, I ask of Your bounty.
Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik.
When to Read
This dua is recited upon leaving the Masjid. While the primary dua for leaving the Masjid focuses on seeking Allah's bounty, the intention behind remembering our deceased loved ones during such blessed moments can be incorporated. After reciting the standard dua, one can follow it with a personal supplication for mercy upon them.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a humble heart as you step out of the Masjid. It's a moment to seek increased blessings from Allah. Following this, extend your hands in personal supplication, focusing your thoughts on your deceased relatives and asking Allah to have mercy upon them.
Virtues & Benefits
The hadith emphasizes seeking Allah's bounty upon leaving the Masjid. It's a powerful reminder that even in our departure from a place of worship, we should remain connected to Allah and seek His continuous favor. By extending this intention to include prayers for deceased relatives, we fulfill a beautiful aspect of Islamic brotherhood and sisterhood, remembering those who have paved the way for us. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself taught us: 'When a person dies, all their deeds end except for three: a continuous charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them.' (Sahih Muslim 1631). Making dua for our departed loved ones is a direct continuation of their legacy and a source of immense reward for them in the grave.
