Dua for Leaving the Masjid: Invoking Allah's Help to Maintain Salah

Leaving Masjid
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 713

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ.

O Allah, I ask You of Your grace.

Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik.

When to Read

This supplication is recited when leaving the Masjid after completing a prayer, particularly Fajr or Maghrib, as it's a time when the Prophet ﷺ taught specific duas for seeking Allah's blessings and guidance outside the sacred space. It signifies seeking Allah's continuous favor and assistance in our daily lives, especially in maintaining our connection with Him through prayer.

How to Read

Recite this dua once after stepping out of the Masjid. It is recommended to do so after reciting the specific duas for leaving the house, as the Prophet ﷺ also taught prayers for entering and exiting different places. This dua is simple yet profound, asking Allah for His boundless bounty and support as you transition back into your daily activities, reminding you that all success and provision comes from Him.

Virtues & Benefits

The primary benefit of this dua is seeking Allah's grace and bounty. By asking 'of Your grace,' we are acknowledging that anything good we receive is from Allah's infinite generosity, not from our own merit. This fosters humility and dependence on Him. It's particularly relevant after leaving the Masjid, as we are asking Allah to continue showering us with His blessings and to help us implement the spiritual benefits of our prayer into our lives, strengthening our resolve to maintain Salah and other good deeds.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, 'When you ask Allah for anything, ask Him for the highest in Paradise.' And Mu'awiyah said: 'Do not let me rely on anything else.' And Ibn Abbas said: 'The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'When any one of you says: 'O Allah, I ask You of Your grace,' he should do so in his request.'
