Leaving Masjid
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 713

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty.

Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik

When to Read

This dua is recited upon leaving the Masjid (mosque) with the intention of seeking Allah's provision and blessings for whatever endeavor one is about to undertake. It's a beautiful way to transition from the spiritual atmosphere of the mosque back into daily life, carrying the barakah (blessings) of your prayer and remembrance with you.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely after you have completed your prayer and intention to depart the Masjid. It is recommended to exit with your right foot first, mirroring the etiquette of entering with the left. The focus should be on humility and reliance on Allah's grace.

Virtues & Benefits

This simple yet profound dua connects our worldly pursuits with divine assistance. By asking for Allah's bounty (fadl), we acknowledge that all success, provision, and good fortune ultimately come from Him. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua as a way to ensure our efforts are blessed and that we are not left to rely solely on our own strength. It fosters a mindset of dependence on Allah and gratitude for His unending generosity. When we leave the house of Allah with this supplication, we invite His blessings into every step we take outside.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When one of you goes out to his prayer, he has a reward for every step he takes, and it is like a (supererogatory) charity. Then when one of you prays, the angels supplicate for him as long as he remains in his prayer place, saying: O Allah, forgive him, O Allah, have mercy on him. Let one of you not go out of his prayer place until he says: Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik. For the bounty is in the hand of Allah.' (Sahih Muslim 713). The phrase 'Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik' is also recommended upon leaving the mosque in other narrations, signifying a request for Allah's unique grace and provision as one ventures out.
