Leaving Masjid
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 1300

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

O Allah, I ask You from Your Grace.

Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik

When to Read

This beautiful, concise dua is recited when leaving the Masjid. It's a powerful moment after fulfilling our obligation to pray or attend to religious matters, transitioning back into our daily lives. We're asking Allah to grant us success and blessings as we step out, not just for ourselves, but to be able to benefit others through His grace.

How to Read

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to recite this dua as we exit the Masjid. As you take your steps out, perhaps starting with your left foot as is the general etiquette for entering and exiting places of worship with blessings, make this intention. It's a quiet, personal supplication, but its impact is profound.

Virtues & Benefits

When we ask Allah for His grace upon leaving His house, we're essentially asking Him to enable us to carry the barakah (blessings) of the Masjid into our interactions and endeavors outside. It shifts our focus from simply fulfilling a ritual to actively seeking to be a conduit of good in the world. This supplication reminds us that any ability to do good, any success we achieve, and any positive impact we have is ultimately from Allah's boundless grace and bounty. It's a humble acknowledgment of our dependence on Him and a sincere request to be useful to His creation.

Source & Authentication

The hadith narrates that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'When one of you enters the Masjid, he should send blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ and say: 'Allahumma aftah li abwaba rahmatik.' (O Allah, open for me the doors of Your Mercy.) And when he leaves, he should say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik.' (O Allah, I ask You from Your Grace.)'
