بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ
In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.
Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.
When to Read
This is the perfect dua to recite as you physically step out of your home, leaving behind your old circumstances to embark on a new chapter. It's particularly fitting after a significant personal transformation – whether a spiritual awakening, a major life change like moving, starting a new career, or even after overcoming a difficult period. It signifies your intention to rely solely on Allah as you venture into the unknown.
How to Read
Recite this with full sincerity, looking ahead to the path you are about to take. Take a deep breath, then utter these words, feeling the weight of reliance on Allah settling upon you. It’s meant to be said as you begin your journey, often as you close your door behind you or take your first steps outside.
Virtues & Benefits
This beautiful invocation encapsulates complete reliance on Allah (Tawakkul). When you say this, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ promised that you will be guided, protected from harm, and your needs will be taken care of. It is said that a voice will call out to you, saying: 'You have been guided, you have been sufficed, and you have been protected.' This declaration signifies divine assurance for your new undertaking. It reminds us that no matter how significant our transformation or how daunting the new path, our strength and success ultimately come from Allah alone.
Source & Authentication
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “When a man goes out of his house and says: ‘Bismillahi, tawakkaltu alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah,’ it will be said to him: ‘You have been sufficed, protected, and guided.’ This is when Satan turns away from him, and another Satan says to him: ‘How can you deal with a man who has been guided, sufficed, and protected?’
