بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ
In the name of Allah, I rely on Allah. There is no might nor power except with Allah.
Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah
When to Read
This dua is recited when leaving one's home, whether for a short trip, a long journey, or for a specific purpose like fulfilling a vow. It's a beautiful way to commence any endeavor outside the safety and familiarity of your home, entrusting your affairs to Allah.
How to Read
Recite this sincerely with the intention of placing your trust in Allah. Understand the meaning of each word: acknowledging Allah's name as you begin, dedicating your reliance to Him, and recognizing that all strength and power originate from Him alone. This sets the right mindset of humility and dependence on the Creator.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting this dua when leaving home is a powerful act of reliance on Allah (tawakkul). The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ promised a significant reward for those who say it: they are guided, are defended from harm, and are turned away from (meaning evil departs from them). This means Allah will take care of your needs and protect you from all difficulties.

Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When a person goes out of his house saying: 'Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (In the name of Allah, I rely on Allah. There is no might nor power except with Allah), it is said to him: 'You have been sufficed, defended, and guided.' So, the devil turns away from him.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 5095, Sahih al-Tirmidhi 3426)
