بِسْمِ اللهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ
In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.
Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.
When to Read
This dua is recited when you step out of your home with the intention of leaving, whether for a short trip or a longer journey. It's a beautiful way to start your departure, acknowledging your reliance on Allah before you even set foot outside.
How to Read
Recite this with sincerity and full awareness of its meaning. Understand that as you utter these words, you are consciously handing over your affairs and entrusting your safety to Allah. It's an act of deep submission and trust.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ promised immense protection to anyone who recites this dua upon leaving their home. It is reported that when one says this, they are told: 'You are guided, defended, and your needs will be met.' Satan is then repelled from them, and another devil says: 'How can you get to a person who is already guided, defended, and whose needs will be met?' This means Allah's divine protection is actively with you.

Narrated Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'When a person leaves his house and says: Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah. It will be said to him: 'You have been sufficed, protected, and guided.' So the devil will stay away from him.' (Another version adds: 'And another devil will say to him: 'How can you get to a person whom he has been sufficed, protected and guided?') - Sahih al-Bukhari 5095.
