بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ

In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.

Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah

When to Read

This powerful dua is recited when stepping out of your home. It's particularly poignant when facing a new chapter after experiencing loss – be it the loss of a loved one, a job, or a significant aspect of your life. It’s for those moments when you feel the weight of grief or uncertainty but choose to move forward with faith.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention as you are about to leave your home. Take a moment to pause at your doorstep. Utter the words clearly, feeling the weight of each phrase: 'In the name of Allah' – acknowledging His presence and blessing in your endeavor. 'I place my trust in Allah' – surrendering your hopes and anxieties to His perfect plan. 'And there is no might nor power except with Allah' – recognizing that true strength and ability come solely from Him, especially crucial when rebuilding after loss. It is recommended to recite it once, clearly and with contemplation, as you take your first steps outside your dwelling.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua carries immense blessings, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ promised significant protection and guidance. When you recite this, you are essentially placing yourself under Allah's care. The Hadith mentions that it is said to the person, 'You have been guided, you have been sufficed, and you have been protected.' This means Allah grants you guidance for your journey, suffices you in your needs, and protects you from all harm. For someone navigating the pain of loss and the uncertainty of the future, this assurance is a profound source of comfort and strength, reminding you that you are not alone in your efforts to rebuild and move forward.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Anas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "When a person leaves his house saying, 'Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah,' it is said to him: 'You have been guided, you have been sufficed, and you have been protected.' So the devil stays away from him and a devil says to another devil: 'What can you do with a man who has been guided, sufficed, and protected?'" — Sunan Abi Dawud 5095 (Hasan)
