بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ
In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.
Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah
When to Read
This dua is recited when a person steps out of their home with the intention of embarking on a journey, especially one undertaken to seek a better livelihood after facing difficulties. It's a declaration of reliance on Allah as you begin your efforts, acknowledging that success ultimately comes from Him.
How to Read
Recite this sincerely with conviction as you are about to step out of your home. Imagine yourself physically leaving the safety of your dwelling and placing your complete trust in Allah's plan and protection for the journey and the pursuit of your goals. It's often recited after performing Fajr prayer or any other obligatory prayer when preparing to leave for the day's work or a significant undertaking.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful declaration is a spiritual shield. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that when a person says this upon leaving their home, they are told: 'You are guided, you are defended, and you are protected.' The devils are thus kept away from them. This means Allah sends angels to guard you, guides your steps, and protects you from harm, both physical and spiritual, as you venture out.

Narrated Anas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "When a man goes out of his house saying: 'Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah), it is said to him: 'You have been sufficed and protected.' And the devil keeps away from him." — Sunan Abi Dawud 5095 (Sahih)
