Dua for Leaving Home to Seek a Spouse for a Loved One

Leaving Home
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 1872

In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You lest I stray or be strayed, or I slip or be slipped, or I wrong or be wronged, or I act foolishly or be acted upon foolishly.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika an adilla aw udalla, aw azilla aw uzalla, aw azlima aw uzlama, aw ajhala aw yujhala 'alayya.

It was narrated from Abdullah bin Amr that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'If a man says when he leaves his house: 'Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah), it will be said to him: 'You have been sufficed and protected,' and the devil will keep away from him.' (This narration is supplemented with the Prophet's own invocation for protection against going astray, injustice, etc., when embarking on his own important missions).
