بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ.
In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.
Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.
When to Read
This is the general dua we recite when leaving our homes for *any* purpose, including to attend a wedding. Saying this before stepping out for the joyous occasion of a wedding reminds us that our journey, and indeed the entire event, is under Allah's protection and guidance. It sets a blessed tone for our departure and for the celebration itself.
How to Read
Recite this dua just as you are about to leave your home, placing your right foot forward. It signifies your reliance on Allah for safety and success on your journey to the wedding and for the event itself. This humble acknowledgment of Allah's power is a beautiful way to start any outward endeavor.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful dua is a declaration of faith and reliance on Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that whoever says this is told, 'You are guided, defended, and your need is met.' This means Allah will provide for you, protect you, and guide you to what is best. When heading to a wedding, this protection extends to your journey and ensures the auspiciousness of your presence at the gathering.

Narrated Anas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'When a man goes out of his house and says: 'Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah,' it will be said to him: 'You have been sufficed, defended, and guided.' Satan will stand far from him. Satan will say to another Satan: 'How can you get to a person who has been sufficed, defended, and guided?'
