بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ
In the name of Allah, I rely upon Allah. And there is no might nor power except with Allah.
Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah
When to Read
This beautiful and comprehensive dua is recited when leaving one's home for any purpose, including embarking on a journey to participate in a community project. Whether you're going to volunteer at a local shelter, help build something for the community, or attend a gathering for a good cause, this is the perfect dua to invoke Allah's protection and guidance.
How to Read
Recite this clearly and with sincerity as you step out of your door. Utter 'Bismillah' to begin in Allah's name, acknowledging His blessings. Then, declare 'tawakkaltu 'alallah' – that your trust and reliance are solely on Him for the success and safety of your endeavor. Finally, affirm 'wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' to recognize that all strength and ability to do good and avoid evil comes only from Allah. It's a powerful affirmation of your dependence on your Creator.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ promised that when a person recites this dua upon leaving their home, they are told: 'You have been guided, you have been sufficed, and you have been protected.' The devil then moves away from them, and another devil says to him: 'How can you deal with a man who has been guided, sufficed and protected?' (Sunan Abi Dawud 5095, Sahih). This means you are under Allah's care, shielded from harm and guided towards the right path, ensuring your community project can proceed smoothly and successfully.

Narrated Anas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'When a man leaves his house and says: "Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah" (In the name of Allah, I rely upon Allah. And there is no might nor power except with Allah), it will be said to him: "You have been guided, you have been sufficed, and you have been protected." So the devil will be kept away from him.' Narrated Tariq bin Ashyam from his father: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'When you go out of your house, recite: بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ (Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah) It will be said to you: "You are defended, you are guided, and you are sufficient." Then a devil will be in front of him and say to another devil: "How can you approach him, when he has been defended, guided and sufficed?"' (Sunan Abi Dawud 5095)
