Dua for a Peaceful Resolution When Leaving Home to Address a Grievance

Leaving Home
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 1700

In the name of Allah, I rely upon Allah. There is no might nor power except with Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from straying or being led astray, from slipping or causing others to slip, from wronging or being wronged, and from acting foolishly or being treated foolishly.

Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika an adilla aw udalla, aw azilla aw uzalla, aw azlima aw uzlama, aw ajhala aw yujhala 'alayya.

When to Read

How to Read

Begin by reciting 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah). Then, state your reliance on Allah, 'Tawakkaltu 'alallah' (I rely upon Allah), acknowledging that ultimate control and strength belong to Him. Finally, utter the supplication 'Wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (There is no might nor power except with Allah), reaffirming your dependence. The core of the dua is seeking Allah's protection from various forms of misguidance, error, injustice, and foolishness, both in your actions and in how others treat you. Utter it with sincerity and a conscious heart, fully aware of the meaning behind each word.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "When a person goes out of his house saying: 'Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah', it is said to him: 'You have been sufficed, you have been guided, and you have been protected.' And the Shaitan (devil) moves away from him. Then another Shaitan says: 'How can you deal with a person who has been sufficed, guided, and protected?'"
