Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates three crucial elements for a successful life in this world and the next. Beneficial knowledge ( 'ilman nafi'an) guides us, protects us from error, and brings us closer to Allah. Goodly provision (rizqan tayyiban) ensures our sustenance is pure, pleasing to Allah, and free from unlawful earnings, which in turn purifies our bodies and our worship. Acceptable deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan) are those performed with sincerity, in accordance with the Sunnah, and accepted by Allah, leading to His pleasure and reward. By asking for these, we are essentially asking for the tools and the divine acceptance needed to navigate life, learn from our errors, and continuously strive for betterment.

Narrated by Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say after the Fajr prayer: 'O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, sustenance that is pure, and deeds that are acceptable.' (Sunan Ibn Majah 925). This hadith highlights the Prophet's ﷺ consistent practice of seeking these three pillars of a blessed life right after the Fajr prayer, demonstrating its importance and a practical time for its recitation.
