When to Read

This dua is particularly powerful when you begin a study session, embark on learning something new, or find yourself struggling to grasp a concept. It's a beautiful way to start any pursuit of knowledge, seeking Allah's barakah (blessing) and guidance in your efforts.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and focus. Imagine the words flowing from your heart as you ask Allah directly for these three crucial elements: knowledge that benefits you and others, provision that is pure and lawful, and actions that are accepted by Him. Raising your hands during the dua is a sign of humility and earnest supplication, though not strictly required for every recitation.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua, taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, encapsulates the essence of a successful and fulfilling life rooted in knowledge and righteous action. Seeking beneficial knowledge ( 'ilman naafi'an ) is a means to understand Allah's creation, His commands, and to become a better servant. Asking for good provision ( rizqan tayyiban ) ensures that what sustains you is pure and blessed, avoiding any ill-gotten gains. Finally, requesting acceptable deeds ( 'amalan mutaqabbalan ) is the ultimate goal – to live a life where our efforts are acknowledged and rewarded by Allah. This prayer helps align our learning with righteous purpose, seeking not just information, but understanding that leads to action pleasing to our Creator.
