O Allah, teach me the Book (Al-Quran) and wisdom, and save me from knowledge that does not benefit. Make me benefit from what You have taught me, and increase me in knowledge.
Allahumma 'allimni al-kitaba wal-hikmah, wa fakkinni min 'ilmi ghayri an-nafi', wa-nfani bima 'allamtani, wa zidni 'ilman.

How to Read
Recite this dua with a sincere heart and a focused mind. Raise your hands in supplication as you make this dua, facing the Qiblah if possible. Ensure you understand the meaning of each word and truly ask Allah for the ability to discern wisdom and benefit from knowledge, especially when reflecting on the past.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication directly asks Allah for two invaluable gifts: knowledge of the Book (Al-Quran) and wisdom (Hikmah). Wisdom allows us to understand the deeper meanings and lessons, which is crucial for comprehending the rationale behind historical events. It also seeks protection from useless knowledge, which can distract us from what truly matters. By asking to benefit from what has been taught and for an increase in knowledge, we align ourselves with the pursuit of beneficial understanding, essential for learning from history's tapestry.
