اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and deeds accepted.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This dua is particularly relevant when facing challenging situations or seemingly inexplicable events. It's a beautiful supplication to make after the Fajr prayer, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to do, to ask for guidance and understanding throughout the day. Recite it whenever you feel overwhelmed by the complexities of life, seeking Allah's wisdom to accept His divine decree.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a humble heart, focusing on your intention to seek Allah's wisdom. Raise your hands as you make this supplication, facing the Qiblah if possible. Believe that Allah will grant you understanding in His own time and in the way He deems best. It is recommended to say it after finishing the Fajr prayer, but it can be recited at any time you seek clarity.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua, taught to us by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, encompasses seeking three essential elements for a fulfilling life in accordance with Allah's will. 'Beneficial knowledge' allows us to understand the world and our purpose, guiding us to make choices that please Allah. 'Goodly provision' ensures we have sustenance that is pure and lawful, free from unlawful earnings. 'Deeds accepted' means our worship and good actions are recognized and rewarded by Allah. By seeking these, we align ourselves with Allah's plan, fostering patience and acceptance of His decrees, even when their wisdom is not immediately apparent. This acceptance brings peace and contentment, as we trust in Allah's perfect plan.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said the Salam after the prayer, he would say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and deeds accepted.)
