Virtues & Benefits
This dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his uncle Al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), is a comprehensive request for both divine knowledge ('the Book' referring to the Quran and its understanding) and practical wisdom ('the reckoning' and understanding 'matters of religion and the world'). By asking Allah for understanding, we acknowledge that true insight and the ability to connect disparate fields of knowledge ultimately stem from Him. This supplication helps in developing a coherent worldview, where faith and worldly pursuits are seen as interconnected, guided by divine wisdom.
