اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This is a comprehensive dua that can be recited at any time, but it is particularly potent when made at the beginning of a study session, after Fajr prayer, or during the times when Allah Most High is especially receptive to His servants' supplications. When you set out to learn something new, or when you feel your heart is becoming clouded, turn to this dua.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, understanding that knowledge is a trust from Allah. Raise your hands, as is customary for supplication, and focus your heart on seeking Allah's assistance. Remember that true beneficial knowledge is that which purifies the heart and leads to righteous action. Make it a habit, and let it become a natural part of your pursuit of learning.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates the three pillars of success in this life and the hereafter. 'Beneficial knowledge' ( 'ilman naafi'an) is knowledge that not only benefits the seeker but also the Ummah, and it's knowledge that draws one closer to Allah. 'Good provision' (rizqan tayyiban) refers to lawful, pure sustenance that nourishes the body and soul. 'Accepted deeds' ('amalan mutaqabbalan) are those actions performed sincerely for Allah's sake and in accordance with the Sunnah, which He graciously accepts. By asking for all three, we acknowledge that true learning requires inner purity, upright character, and deeds that please our Creator.
