اللَّهُمَّ انْفَعْنِي بِمَا عَلَّمْتَنِي، وَعَلِّمْنِي مَا يَنْفَعُنِي، وَزِدْنِي عِلْمًا

O Allah, benefit me with what You have taught me, and teach me what is beneficial for me, and increase me in knowledge.

Allahumma infa'ni bima 'allamtani, wa 'allimni ma yanfa'uni, wa zidni 'ilma

The narrator said: 'I said, 'O Allah's Messenger, teach me something that I may say when I go to sleep.' He said: 'Recite the verse of the Throne: 'Allah! La ilaha illa Huwa Al-Hayyul-Qayyum' (2:255) ... Then he said: 'O Allah, benefit me with what You have taught me, and teach me what is beneficial for me, and increase me in knowledge.' A man said to him: 'O Allah's Messenger, how should we ask for increase in knowledge?' The Prophet (ﷺ) remained silent for a while, then said: 'Ask Allah for knowledge that is beneficial, and seek refuge in Allah from knowledge that is not beneficial.' (The narration includes other advice about sleeping, but the portion relevant to this dua focuses on seeking beneficial knowledge.)
