Hasan HadithMusnad Ahmad 17929

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلِ الْقُرْآنَ رَبِيعَ قَلْبِي وَنُورَ صَدْرِي وَجِلَاءَ حُزْنِي وَذَهَابَ هَمِّي

O Allah, make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sorrow, and the remover of my anxiety.

Allahumma ij'al al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi wa nura sadri wa jila'a huzni wa dhahaba hammi

When to Read

This powerful dua is perfect to recite anytime you are seeking clarity, solace, or a deeper connection with the Divine message. It's particularly beneficial before starting to read the Quran, during moments of reflection, or when feeling overwhelmed by worldly concerns. Making it a part of your daily routine, perhaps after your prayers, can help cultivate a sustained spiritual connection.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and a humble heart. Imagine Allah (SWT) hearing your plea and granting you the blessings contained within His magnificent book. Focus on the meaning of the words as you utter them, asking Allah to transform your heart and mind through the Quran. It's recommended to raise your hands slightly in supplication, as was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication encompasses profound benefits. By asking for the Quran to be the 'spring' of our hearts, we pray for it to bring life, renewal, and growth to our inner selves, just as rain revives the earth. As the 'light' of our chests, it illuminates our understanding, guides our decisions, and dispels the darkness of ignorance. It serves as a balm for sorrows and a cure for anxieties, promising peace and tranquility to those who turn to it and seek its wisdom. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself taught this dua, highlighting its immense value in fostering a meaningful relationship with the Quran.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "No one who has the Quran in his chest will be distressed, but he will be comforted and consoled." In another narration, it is mentioned that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ supplicated: > **Arabic:** اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلِ الْقُرْآنَ رَبِيعَ قَلْبِي وَنُورَ صَدْرِي وَجِلَاءَ حُزْنِي وَذَهَابَ هَمِّي > **Translation:** "O Allah, make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sorrow, and the remover of my anxiety." — Related by Ahmad in his Musnad (17929) and Al-Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Iman.
