اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and deeds that are accepted.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This is a profound supplication the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would often make upon waking each morning. We can integrate it into our daily routine, perhaps right after Fajr prayer, as we set our intentions for the day. It serves as a powerful reminder to seek knowledge that benefits us in this life and the next, and more importantly, to use that knowledge in ways that please Allah and are accepted by Him.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a humble heart. Recognize that true benefit from knowledge comes from Allah's grace. Raise your hands as you would during other supplications. Reflect on each part of the dua: seeking knowledge that is *naafi'an* (beneficial), provision that is *tayyiban* (good and pure), and deeds that are *mutaqabbalan* (accepted). This means our actions align with what we learn and are done for the sake of Allah.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is incredibly comprehensive. It doesn't just ask for knowledge, but for *beneficial* knowledge – knowledge that leads to good deeds and brings us closer to Allah. It also asks for pure and lawful provision, which is essential for our well-being and the acceptance of our worship. Crucially, it asks for accepted deeds, acknowledging that mere action isn't enough; our actions must be sincere, in accordance with the Sunnah, and for the pleasure of Allah. The acceptance of deeds is entirely in Allah's hands, making this a vital request.

Narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ never omitted these words when he prayed in the morning: 'O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, provision that is pure, and deeds that are accepted.' (Sahih Muslim 1398). In another narration, it is reported that he would say this upon waking up.
