Dua for Ease in Hajj and Umrah

Hajj & Umrah
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 1973

O Allah, make our Hajj easy for us and complete it for us, and make it an accepted Hajj, with acknowledged effort, and forgiven sins.

Allahumma yassir 'alayna hajjana wa'mur lana, waj'alhu hajjan mabruran, wa sa'yan mashkuran, wa dhanban maghfura.

When to Read

This beautiful supplication can be recited at various points before and during Hajj and Umrah. It's particularly fitting as you prepare for your journey, upon entering the state of Ihram, or even when starting the Tawaf or Sa'i. Making dua for ease acknowledges that these are significant acts of worship requiring Allah's help.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a hopeful heart. Focus on the meaning of each word, asking Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) to smooth your path. Ensure you are in a state of purity if possible, though the primary condition for dua is heartfelt earnestness. Remember that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ encouraged making dua during these sacred rites.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates the essence of seeking Allah's aid for a successful Hajj or Umrah. It asks for facilitation in performing the rituals ('yassir 'alayna hajjana wa 'mur lana'), acceptance of our pilgrimage ('hajjan mabruran'), recognition of our efforts ('sa'yan mashkuran'), and ultimately, the immense reward of having our sins forgiven ('wa dhanban maghfura'). By asking for these things, we acknowledge our dependence on Allah and invite His blessings upon our journey.

Source & Authentication

Ahmad bin Hanbal narrated to us: Abu Al-Mughirah narrated to us: Abu Al-Ahwas narrated to us from A'im bin 'Ubaidullah from Salim bin Abi Al-Ja'd from Muhammad bin Subai' Al-Khath'ami who said: I said to Ibn 'Umar: 'What is the most beloved supplication to Allah during Hajj?' He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The most beloved of Allah's servants to Allah are those who are most humble and most diligent in their supplication during the Hajj."' Then he mentioned the supplication: 'Allahumma yassir 'alayna hajjana wa 'mur lana, waj'alhu hajjan mabruran, wa sa'yan mashkuran, wa dhanban maghfura.' (Allahumma yassir 'alayna hajjana wa 'mur lana, waj'alhu hajjan mabruran, wa sa'yan mashkuran, wa dhanban maghfura).
