O Allah, I ask You, for indeed all praise is due to You; there is no god but You alone, You have no partner. You are the Most Loving, You are the Originator, You are the heavens and the earth. O Possessor of Majesty and Honor, O Sustainer of the heavens and the earth, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor, I ask You to accept my supplication for my brother [mention name], and to relieve his distress, and to make his affairs easy, and to fulfill his desires, and to grant him his request, and to forgive him, and to have mercy upon him.
Allahumma inni as'aluka bi-anna lakal-hamdu la ilaha illa anta wahdaka la shareeka lak, antal-wadood, antal-badee', antal-ardhu was-samawatu wal-ardh, ya dhal-jalali wal-ikraam, ya qayyoomas-samawati wal-ardh, ya dhal-jalali wal-ikraam, as'aluka an taqbala du'a'i li-akhi fulan, wa tufarrija karbahu, wa yusassira amrahu, wa tuhaqqiqa munahu, wa tu'tiyahu su'lahu, wa taghfira lahu, wa tarhamahu.
When to Read
This dua is particularly potent when performed in the blessed vicinity of the Kaaba, especially during Hajj or Umrah. Imagine yourself standing before the House of Allah, a place where prayers are multiplied. It's the perfect setting to make sincere supplications for your loved ones, asking Allah to accept them just as you would ask for yourself.
How to Read
Face the Qibla (direction of the Kaaba) if possible, though this is less critical inside the Masjid al-Haram itself. Begin by praising Allah and affirming His Oneness, as is the Sunnah. Then, clearly state your intention to pray for the person you have in mind, mentioning their name. Utter the supplication with sincerity, conviction, and hope in Allah's mercy. Picture the person you are praying for and their needs. Remember that making dua for others in their absence carries immense reward.
Virtues & Benefits
Making dua for others, especially in a blessed place like the Kaaba, is a sign of strong brotherhood and love within the Ummah. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'The supplication of a Muslim for his brother in his absence is answered. An angel is at his head, and whenever he supplicates for his brother, the angel says: Ameen, and may the same be for you.' (Sahih Muslim 2732). This highlights the profound spiritual significance and reward associated with this act.
