Virtues & Benefits

Expressing gratitude for blessings, especially relief from hardship like debt, is a way to earn Allah's pleasure and invite more blessings. This simple utterance signifies recognizing Allah as the ultimate provider and sustainer.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Al-Harith said: 'Whenever Prophet Muhammad ﷺ received something that pleased him, he would say: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي بِنِعْمَتِهِ تَتِمُّ الصَّالِحَاتُ (Al-hamdu lillahil-ladhi bi-ni'matihi tatimmus-salihāt). And whenever something occurred that was the opposite of what he wished, he would say: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ (Al-hamdu lillahi 'ala kulli hal).' (Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 3803)
