الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ

All praise is due to Allah Who has fed me this and provided it for me without any strength or power from myself.

Alhamdulillah alladhi at'amani hadha wa razaqanihi min ghayri hawlin minni wa la quwwah.

When to Read

This dua is recommended to be recited after finishing a meal, especially one that is particularly satisfying or provides essential nourishment. It's a beautiful moment to pause and acknowledge Allah's provision after experiencing the blessing of being fed.

How to Read

Virtues & Benefits

Reciting this dua after a meal expresses profound gratitude to Allah for the sustenance He provides. It reminds us that our ability to eat, digest, and be nourished is a gift, not something we achieve through our own might. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to instill humility and constant thankfulness for even the most basic blessings, like food, recognizing it as a divine provision independent of our own power. This practice cultivates a mindset of gratitude, which is a cornerstone of faith.

Ibn Qudamah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: ... and the hadith of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) finished his food, he would say: 'All praise is due to Allah Who has fed me this and provided it for me without any strength or power from myself.' (Sunan Abi Dawud, Sunan Ibn Majah and others). Al-Tirmidhi said: This is a Hasan narration. It is also narrated from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) when he broke his fast, or when he broke his fast with him, said: 'Praise be to Allah. O Allah, indeed, we have reached the evening and it is from you that we break our fast.' And when he had finished his food, he would say: 'All praise is due to Allah Who has fed me this and provided it for me without any strength or power from myself.'
