Dua for a Clear Conscience: The Sweetness of Inner Peace

Gratitude
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 1938

O Allah, I ask You to enable me to do good deeds, to abandon evil deeds, and to love the poor. I ask You to forgive me and have mercy on me. And when You intend to try a people with a trial, take me to Yourself without my being tried by it. I ask You for Your love, and the love of those who love You, and the love of deeds which bring me closer to Your love.

Allahumma inni as'aluka fi'l al-khayrat, wa tark al-munkarat, wa hubb al-masakin, wa an taghfira li wa tarhamani, wa idha aradta fitnatan fi qawmin fa tawaffani ilayha ghayra muftatin, wa as'aluka hubbak, wa hubba man yuhibbuk, wa hubba 'amalin yuqarribu ila hubbik.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) taught me a comprehensive prayer, and I would not exchange it for anything else. He said: Allahumma inni as'aluka al-huda wat-tuqa wal-'afafa wal-ghina. (O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency). Then he mentioned another comprehensive prayer: Allahumma inni as'aluka fi'l al-khayrat, wa tark al-munkarat, wa hubb al-masakin, wa an taghfira li wa tarhamani, wa idha aradta fitnatan fi qawmin fa tawaffani ilayha ghayra muftatin, wa as'aluka hubbak, wa hubba man yuhibbuk, wa hubba 'amalin yuqarribu ila hubbik. (O Allah, I ask You to enable me to do good deeds, to abandon evil deeds, and to love the poor. I ask You to forgive me and have mercy on me. And when You intend to try a people with a trial, take me to Yourself without my being tried by it. I ask You for Your love, and the love of those who love You, and the love of deeds which bring me closer to Your love.)
