اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا وَّ رِزْقًا طَيِّبًا وَّ عَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and deeds that are accepted.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This is a powerful supplication the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would often make after the Fajr (dawn) prayer. It's an excellent way to start your day, seeking Allah's guidance to purify your intentions and ensure your actions are pleasing to Him.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and presence of mind after completing the Fajr prayer. Raise your hands slightly, as was the practice of the Prophet ﷺ in supplication. Reflect on each part of the dua: asking for knowledge that benefits, sustenance that is pure, and deeds that are accepted by Allah. This means asking that your intentions are pure and that your actions are performed according to the Sunnah and for the sake of Allah alone.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses three vital aspects for a Muslim's life: 1. **Beneficial Knowledge ('Ilman Nafi'an):** Seeking knowledge that not only increases understanding of Islam but also guides one towards righteous deeds and fear of Allah. It's knowledge that impacts our character and actions positively. 2. **Goodly Provision (Rizqan Tayyiban):** Asking for lawful, pure, and blessed sustenance. This includes wealth, health, family, and all the provisions Allah bestows, ensuring they are earned and used in ways that please Him. 3. **Accepted Deeds ('Amalan Mutaqabbalan):** This is perhaps the most profound part. We ask that Allah accepts our deeds. For a deed to be accepted, it must be performed with sincere intention (for Allah's sake alone) and in accordance with the teachings of Islam and the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ. This directly addresses the core of authenticity in our worship and our interactions.
