اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and deeds accepted.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This is a powerful supplication the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to recite after the Fajr (dawn) prayer. It's excellent to make this dua consistently after Fajr, as it encompasses seeking knowledge that benefits both this life and the Hereafter, sustenance that is lawful and good, and actions that are accepted by Allah.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and focus, reflecting on each part: asking for knowledge that truly benefits, sustenance that is pure, and deeds that please Allah. The best time is after Fajr prayer, but it can be recited at other times as well, especially when embarking on learning or striving for self-improvement.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is comprehensive. Beneficial knowledge ('ilman nafi'an) leads to understanding Allah's commands, acting upon them, and gaining wisdom. Pure provision (rizqan tayyiban) ensures that what we eat, drink, and use is lawful and blessed, keeping our bodies and hearts pure. Accepted deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan) are those performed with sincerity, following the Sunnah, and free from showing off, ensuring they are rewarded by Allah. The Prophet ﷺ's practice of reciting this after Fajr highlights its importance in setting a pure and productive tone for the day.
