O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessings, and the turning of Your well-being, and the suddenness of Your punishment, and all that You are displeased with. And I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow. And I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness. And I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess. And I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the overpowering of men.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matika, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatika, wa faja'ati niqmatika, wa jami'i sakhatika, wa a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhl, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijal.

Virtues & Benefits
This powerful supplication addresses several key areas crucial for maintaining good character and spiritual well-being. By seeking refuge in Allah from the 'cessation of Your blessings,' 'turning of Your well-being,' and 'suddenness of Your punishment,' we acknowledge our complete dependence on Him and strive to stay away from His displeasure, a major root of arrogance. The Prophet ﷺ specifically taught us to seek refuge from helplessness and laziness, which can lead to a lack of effort in improving ourselves. Likewise, seeking refuge from cowardice and stinginess are vital for developing courage and generosity. Most significantly for this topic, by seeking refuge from 'anxiety and sorrow' and the 'burden of debt and the overpowering of men,' we are asking Allah to shield us from external pressures that can sometimes make us turn inward with pride or despair. This holistic seeking of refuge fosters a state of reliance on Allah, which is the antithesis of arrogance and the foundation of true humility.
