Virtues & Benefits

Reciting this dua for your guests reflects the prophetic tradition of hospitality (karam) and good neighbourliness. It invokes Allah's blessings not only for the guest but also implicitly for the host and the household, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that when we make dua for others, angels respond by making similar dua for us. It fosters a spiritual connection and promotes a welcoming atmosphere rooted in remembrance of Allah.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever is invited to a feast and does not respond, has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger. Whoever eats the food, but does not greet the people of the house, has eaten something that is like a payment. Whoever does not leave until he has prayed for them, has gained the full reward.' Then he mentioned a similar hadeeth from Ibn 'Umar, and he mentioned the supplication: 'O Allah, bless them in what You have provided for them, forgive them, and have mercy upon them.' It was narrated from Anas that the Prophet ﷺ came to his house and said: 'O Allah, bless what they have done.' When he went to his family, he said: 'O Allah, bless them in what You have provided for them, forgive them, and have mercy upon them.'
