بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ وَبَارَكَ عَلَيْكَ وَجَمَعَ بَيْنَكُمَا فِي خَيْرٍ

May Allah bless you, and shower His blessings upon you, and bring you together in goodness.

Barakallahu laka wa baraka 'alaika wa jama'a bainakuma fi khairin

When to Read

This beautiful dua is ideally recited when a Muslim is invited to a wedding reception or any gathering where a couple is being celebrated. It's a way to participate in their joy while invoking Allah's blessings upon their new union. You can say it as you greet the couple, or when offering them well wishes.

How to Read

Recite this sincerely, directing your intention to seeking Allah's favor for the newlyweds. It's typically said directly to the couple. You might place your hand gently on their shoulder or arm as you say it, though this is a cultural practice rather than a strict religious requirement. The core is the heartfelt intention behind the words.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates profound well-wishes for a couple starting their married life. It asks Allah to bestow His 'barakah' (blessings, growth, abundance) upon them individually and collectively. The final part, 'wa jama'a bainakuma fi khairin' (and bring you together in goodness), is a comprehensive plea for their union to be a source of good for them and their future. It’s a beautiful way to contribute positively to their celebration and affirm the Islamic emphasis on marriage as a sacred covenant.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us this dua for a wedding. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked how to bless a bride, and he said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) came to them and said: 'Barakallahu laka wa baraka 'alaika wa jama'a bainakuma fi khairin' (May Allah bless you, and shower His blessings upon you, and bring you together in goodness).
