This powerful dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, directly addresses the root causes of conflict: anger and sin. It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not ask for the meeting of the enemy, and when you meet the enemy, be patient, and know that Paradise is under the shade of swords.' Then he said: 'O Allah, remove the anger from the heart of the killer, and forgive his sin, and protect him from his evil deeds.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 5017). Although the context of the full hadith mentions the 'killer', the dua itself is general for addressing anger and seeking protection from wrongdoing, making it applicable to resolving interpersonal conflicts.
