بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، وَتَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ

In the name of Allah, I rely on Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.

When to Read

Recite this dua before entering any gathering or meeting where you have specific intentions or goals. This could be a work meeting, a family gathering, a discussion group, or any assembly of people. It's particularly relevant when you wish for the proceedings to be blessed and for your intentions to be achieved through Allah's help.

How to Read

Recite this with sincerity and a firm reliance on Allah (tawakkul). Understand that while you make your efforts and have your intentions, the ultimate success and outcome rest with Allah. It's a declaration of dependence on Him, acknowledging that no action can be successful without His power and support.

Virtues & Benefits

Reciting this dua before undertaking any action, including entering a gathering, is a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It signifies placing your trust in Allah, seeking His blessing and protection, and acknowledging that all power and strength come solely from Him. This act can bring barakah (blessing) to the gathering and assist you in achieving your intentions in a way that is pleasing to Allah.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'When a person goes out of his house and says: Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (In the name of Allah, I rely on Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah), it is said to him: You are guided, you are taken care of, and you are in no need of anything. Satan moves away from him.' (This hadith is generally understood to apply to leaving one's house for any purpose, including entering a gathering, as it's a step taken away from one's initial place of security towards an engagement in the world). (The reference for the hadith is Sunan Abi Dawud 5095, graded Sahih by Al-Albani.)
