اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي دِينِي وَدُنْيَايَ وَأَهْلِي وَمَالِي، اللَّهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِي وَآمِنْ رَوْعَاتِي، اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ وَمِنْ خَلْفِي وَعَنْ يَمِينِي وَعَنْ شِمَالِي وَمِنْ فَوْقِي، وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي
O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my property. O Allah, conceal my faults and secure my fears. O Allah, protect me from in front of me, from behind me, from my right, from my left, and from above me. And I seek refuge in Your greatness from being struck from beneath me.
Allahumma inni as'alukal-'afwa wal-'afiyata fid-dunya wal-akhirah. Allahumma inni as'alukal-'afwa wal-'afiyata fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allahumma-stur 'awrati wa amin raw'ati. Allahumma-hfizni min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi wa 'an yameeni wa 'an shimali wa min fawqi, wa a'udhu bi 'azamatika an ughtala min tahti.
When to Read
This comprehensive supplication is particularly potent when recited on a Friday, especially after the Asr prayer, a time when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ indicated duas are readily accepted. On Fridays, our collective focus and supplication are magnified. We can also make this a regular part of our daily remembrance, seeking Allah's protection from all forms of harm, both seen and unseen, including the insidious spread of internal discord within the Ummah.
How to Read
Begin with sincere intention, focusing on the meaning of the words. Raise your hands, a sign of earnest seeking from Allah. Utter the dua with clarity and a hopeful heart, reflecting on each aspect of protection sought. Remember the Sunnah of making dua: start with praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and conclude with that as well. Recite it with conviction, believing that Allah hears and will respond in the best way.

This dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his uncle Al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), encapsulates a vast scope of seeking Allah's protection. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ told Al-Abbas, 'O Abbas, O my uncle, I will give you, I will grant you, I will help you. Ask Allah for guidance and good health (Al-'afiyah) in the religion and the world.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 3570). Allah's protection ('Afiyah) is comprehensive, encompassing safety from all evils and afflictions. He said: 'O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my property. O Allah, conceal my faults and secure my fears. O Allah, protect me from in front of me, from behind me, from my right, from my left, and from above me. And I seek refuge in Your greatness from being struck from beneath me.' He said: 'O Abbas, 'Ali and I said to him: 'O Messenger of Allah, you should say this supplication every day – or pray it each morning and evening.'
