Dua for Strength to Overcome Doubts and Seek Certainty of Faith on Friday

Friday / Jumuah
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2670

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ

O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.

Ya muqallibal-qulubi, thabbit qalbi 'ala dinik

When to Read

This powerful supplication is particularly poignant when recited on Friday, the day of congregational prayer and immense spiritual blessings. As the heart may be stirred by reflections on faith, especially after the sermon and during the moments of earnest prayer, or even in the quiet hours before, this dua is a profound way to seek Allah's help in grounding one's belief.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and humility, preferably with hands raised, as is the Sunnah when making dua. Focus on the meaning, acknowledging that Allah alone has the power to stabilize our hearts. Repeating it multiple times on a Friday, especially during the times when dua is readily accepted (like between the Jumu'ah sermon and the prayer, or in the last hour of Friday), can be highly beneficial.

Virtues & Benefits

Our faith can face tests, and at times, whispers of doubt can creep in. This dua directly addresses that vulnerability by asking the One who perfectly controls our hearts to keep them steadfast on Islam. Certainty (yaqin) is a cornerstone of strong faith, and by consistently turning to Allah with this supplication, we actively seek that divine support to strengthen our conviction and ward off wavering thoughts.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'The likeness of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is that of abundant rain which fell upon the earth. Some of it was fertile soil that held the water and brought forth much grass and vegetation. And some of it was barren ground that held the water, but Allah benefited people by it, and they used it for irrigation and for cultivation. And some of it was barren ground, which neither held water nor brought forth vegetation. That is the likeness of the one who understands Allah's religion and is taught by what Allah has revealed to me, and knows it and teaches it to others. And that is the likeness of the one who does not pay attention to it and does not accept the guidance of Allah with which I have been sent.' It was narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say often: 'O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.' He said: 'We believed in him and in what he brought.' So he (the Prophet) said: 'O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.' He said: 'O Allah, we have believed in what You revealed, so keep our hearts firm.'
