O Allah, I ask You by Your knowledge of the unseen and by Your power over creation, keep me alive as long as You know that life is best for me, and cause me to die when You know that death is best for me. O Allah, I ask You for Your fear in the secret and in the visible. I ask You for a word of truth in satisfaction and in anger. I ask You for moderation in poverty and wealth. I ask You for a bliss that never ends and for coolness of my eyes that never ceases. I ask You for contentment after Your decree, and I ask You for a pleasant life after death. I ask You for the delight of looking at Your face, and the longing to meet You, without any distressing adversity or misleading trial. O Allah, adorn us with the adornment of faith, and make us guides who guide others (to the right path).

The narrator states: I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): 'Teach me something comprehensive.' He said: 'Say: O Allah, I ask You for Your fear in secret and in the open, and I ask You for a word of truth in satisfaction and in anger, and I ask You for moderation in poverty and in wealth. And I ask You for a lasting bliss, and I ask You for the delight of looking at Your face, and the eagerness to meet You, without any harm or misleading trials. And I ask You, O Allah, that You decree for me the most pleasant outcome of all affairs. I seek refuge in You from the disgraceful punishment of this world and the punishment of the Hereafter.' Then he said: 'O Allah, I ask You by Your knowledge of the unseen and by Your power over creation, keep me alive as long as You know that life is best for me, and cause me to die when You know that death is best for me. O Allah, I ask You for Your fear in secret and in the visible. O Allah, adorn us with the adornment of faith, and make us guides who guide others.' [Sunan an-Nasa'i 1309. Graded Hasan by Darussalam]
