اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
This powerful supplication is particularly fitting to recite on a Friday. It's a moment when Allah (SWT) draws close to His servants, and the day itself carries immense blessings. Specifically, after the Asr prayer on Friday is a time when duas are often accepted, making it an opportune moment to seek Allah's guidance. You can also make it a regular part of your Friday routine, perhaps after the Jumu'ah prayer or during the specific hour on Friday when dua is hoped to be answered.
How to Read
Begin by ensuring you are in a state of purity (wudu) if possible. Face the Qiblah (direction of prayer). Raise your hands to your shoulders, palms facing upwards. Start with sincere praise of Allah (SWT) and sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Then, recite this dua with full conviction, asking Allah for knowledge that benefits you, provision that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted by Him. Reflect on what 'beneficial knowledge' means to you – knowledge that brings you closer to Allah, increases your Taqwa, and helps you make sound decisions. Think about what 'goodly provision' entails – sustenance that is halal and brings peace. Contemplate 'acceptable deeds' – actions performed with sincerity and in accordance with the Sunnah. Conclude by sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ again, and say 'Ameen'.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses three essential pillars for a successful life in this world and the hereafter. 1. **'Ilman naafi'an (Beneficial knowledge):** This isn't just academic knowledge, but knowledge that leads to action, increases Taqwa (consciousness of Allah), and guides us to make wise choices, especially when facing complex life decisions. It's the knowledge that steers us away from what displeases Allah and towards what pleases Him. 2. **Rizqan tayyiban (Goodly provision):** This refers to sustenance that is lawful (halal), pure, and brings contentment and barakah (blessing). It's the provision that nourishes the body and soul without bringing about ill effects or leading one astray. 3. **'Amalan mutaqabbalan (Acceptable deeds):** This is the ultimate goal – that our efforts in worship and good deeds are accepted by Allah. Acceptance means they are performed sincerely for His sake, in accordance with His commands and the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ. This is the only kind of deed that will truly benefit us on the Day of Judgment. Reciting this on Friday, a day of immense blessings, amplifies our hope for Allah's response.
